I have owned a pair of these Skullcandy 50/50 in-ear earphones for over a month, approximately two months and these are some of the things I admire and dislike.

PROS—-

-The earphones have an amazing sound quality (If I crank the volume at just 75% on my iPod touch, listening to any song, with these on, I cannot hear anything else. And I have been deemed with perfect hearing by my primary care physician just recently.). It’s perfect for your worst days when all you want to do is crank your music and heal.
-These earphones are compatible with all of my iPods and my Blackberry Bold 9780. That means that I no longer need to bring two separate earphones.
-It comes with a carrying case that protects the earphones from minor dusts and scratches made of nylon.
-The product is protected with a lifetime warranty by the manufacturer.
-The product has a microphone, and volume control, which adds ease when I’m listening to music.
-Submitting a warranty claim is easy.

CONS—-

-Whenever I’m on a phone call while using the product, I noticed that all I can hear is myself talking until I have the volume on at its highest, when everyone around me can hear my private conversation.
-It’s not as comfortable as you may want. I have a lot of difficulty slipping into these earphones. It seems as if none of the other sizes provided by Skullcandy fit in my right ear. So it always slips off and at times it’s uncomfortable. About one hour after listening to music, my right ear itches, and sometimes turns red.
-The product requires a sufficient level of tender loving care. It will not last if you treat these earphones like any other pair. That means that after you’re done using them, whether or not, you take your time and place these earphones carefully in its carrying case will affect its consumer life expectancy. And it’s durability, is based on your personality and how well you take care of your stuff.
-It’s not the best solution for teenagers unless you want them to ignore you (since they can’t hear you).
-If you lend these to your friends, clean the earbuds, because they might have a lot of earwax stuck to them (It’s disgusting, and that was my mistake of lending them to someone else.).
-I’ve tried to contact Skullcandy customer service for general product care questions and was unsuccessful both online, and over the telephone. (When I tried to call their customer service number, that I got from their website, I ended up calling a woman who lives in Utah named Courtney who does not work for Skullcandy.). Now I know, it’s the second number that they provide that actually belongs to Skullcandy. (They need to update their customer service page)

THE BOTTOM LINE IS…..

This particular product might not be worth it. What I mean is, do not buy the product if you will be paying higher than $30 regardless if Skullcandy is selling the item for $50. I know that the retail of the product is $50 but at that price this inconvenience is not worth it. It would be better for you to gather another $40 for a pair of Bose in-ear earphones. The Bose® IE2 audio headphones. They are much more comfortable and start at just $90-99. At the most they cost $150. For a cheaper solution, I recommend Sony products. I apologize but the $9 JVC Gummies that come in various colors belong in recycling where they are much more useful as scrap materials. I have a $7 pair of Sony earhones and they are amazing, they also come in a carrying case. It’s the SONY MDRE828LP/SLV Lightweight Earbuds (Silver). I have also heard from my circle of peers that the brand Ultimate Ears by Logitech, is also reliable, and some of their models are money-saving solutions with the exception of their $1400 pair.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT…..

Do not purchase the cheaper products of Skullcandy. Their consumer life expectancy is estimated to be similar to that of pasteurized milk you can purchase at the market. To clarify, the cheaper earphones of Skullcandy are the products that do not include the following: Holua, FMJ, Titan, and the 50/50. That means stay away from: Ink’d, Smokin’ Buds, and the Riot lines.
